Option
Changes
When can I change my option?
You can change your option with effect from 1st
January each year by notifying the scheme in
writing no later than the date indicated on your
communication from the scheme.
How do I change my option?
You will be advised annually at least 30 days prior
to the benefit and contribution changes for the
following year. A brochure or letter detailing the
changes will be mailed to you. Should you wish to
change your option, the process can be activated
by using the facility on the website or mobile app.
If you are a continuation member, you can also
complete a form that will be provided.
Members, who do not wish to change, will remain
on their current option. Members who are part of
an employer group must notify their employer if
they have chosen to change their option.
If I was previously on an option with
a savings account, can I use the
savings to cover shortfalls?
No, as per the Medical Schemes Act your medical
savings account, in this instance, must be paid
out to you after 4 months, on application.
