2 INTRODUCTION & OVERVIEW One of the most important wellness issues today. A worry for roughly half the population. A personal- appearance and image concern. A source of great suffering, anxiety, and unhappiness. The major cause of Type 2 Diabetes. The core issue driving a growing international industry... weight and weight control is all of these, and more. This introduction-sheet explains some important issues regarding weight control and how to succeed here. Please read it carefully, give it serious thought, print it out and fill in where indicated - and be sure to raise any queries during your next weekly call with your wellness professional. WEIGHT CONTROL IS pOSSIbLE, fOR ALL Of US So many people have struggled with their weight, for so long, that they come to believe it is simply not possible to lose weight. This is untrue. It Is true that some of us are more fortunate (with our metabolisms and genetics) than others but this does not make weight loss impossible for anyone. It Is truethat a very small number of people have medical and hormonal problems that cause weight problems – but this is a very small number of people and unless your doctor is worried about this possibility (by all means, ask him or her) it is time to accept that medical problems are not the cause of your weight problem. It Is very true that many people have tried crash diet after fad diet after "the next big thing" diet and in so doing have developed very difficult metabolisms that do make weight control more difficult – but this is not unsolvable (we'll explain later). It Is true that weight loss is almost never easy but difficult is not the same as impossible. so many of us struggle to just accept that we CAN lose weight, that we create a self-fulfilling prophecy (mind over matter if you like) and guess what? We fail to lose weight! Once you accept, truly accept, that you CAN lose weight, you can.
