The actual rate of weight loss will vary from person to person but as a guide do not aim to lose more than 1 kg a week. Often, even less is actually better and indeed, simply NOT gaining is already a victory. My COUSIN TRIED THE CAbbAGE-SOUp DIET There must have been hundreds and hundreds of these sorts of diets. They nearly always involve very unbalanced eating plans that restrict whole food groups quite often and advocate a way of eating that is just not "natural" at all. Examples have included the meat-only diets, the fruit-only diets, the one-food-a-day diets, and of course, the cabbage-soup diet. They usually come with "too good to be true" stories but no real science. you know what these are. but my cousin did lose weight! yes, she might have, for a while. Here's why: your cousin was probably eating quite badly (junk, fat, too much, etc.) before the fad diet. So if we are honest, almost ANy change would have been an improvement. In the short term. So some weight loss is sometimes seen. but: • These diets are nearly always unbalanced and nutritionally unhealthy. • These diets are never sustainable. Almost nobody can keep eating this way for any period of time • These are often very severe diets and the result is crash-dieting and the yo-yo effect described above. so let's be CleAr: fAD Diets Are uNheAlthy NoNseNse. eND of story. so, this week: we just want you to promise yourself two simple things: 1. i Will Never try CrAsh DietiNg AgAiN 2. i Will Never try A fAD Diet AgAiN These two are responsible for such misery and suffering that just committing yourself to avoiding them is already a great start.
