16 i jUst nEED to ExErCisE My tUMMy arEa. This we hear a lot. The "shrinking clothes" and "sinking chests" scenario is all too common and so a great many people focus, understandably enough, on this problem area. What you need to understand is that there is very little evidence at all, that exercising a specific area will cause weight loss in that area. You may tone the local muscles there, but while they lie behind a layer of fat, these will not be seen. No, the answer here lies in an overall weight loss programme (diet and exercise) and a balanced exercise regime. BUt i HavE gooD gEnEs. Great news indeed. how good? Can they protect you for your current unhealthy living? It's not likely. It is certainly true that some of us are more, or less, fortunate with our genetic makeup and this can certainly affect our health now and in the future. But there is no genetic makeup that offers total freedom from all ill-health. You cannot choose your parents (rather obviously) but you can choose your lifestyle. Do yourself a favour, and show some respect to what you parents have given you, by taking your own wellbeing seriously, and personally. WE all DiE EvEntUally. True. And many people use this rather "fatalistic' view to explain why they do not bother looking after themselves (smokers are especially fond of this one). here's the thing though: wellbeing is more about how well you live than it is about how long you live. The results of sedentary living are low energy, impaired mobility, frequent illness, more hospitalisations, possible depression & low mood, and much more: in short, living badly. Being active is about living well. Longer too, yes, but the important thing is quality. IS ThAT IT? In a sense, yes. We hope we've given you the information, advice and support you need. We know that getting active is just about the very best thing you can do for yourself. But we also know the rest is over to you. Your wellbeing today is mainly about the choices you have made so far. Your wellbeing tomorrow is about the choices you make today. WE WisH yoU WEll.
