CAMAF Wellness Club is a great resource to help you take proactive approach to your health and wellness. The club will assist you by means of coaching, to make better, healthier choices. Read more about this exciting wellness solution on our website. The programme, available to all our members and their families, offers support and advice from our highly experience, oncology trained Wellness coordinators. CAMAF uses the Independent Clinical Oncology Network's (ICON) (an accredited managed care organisation for oncology) three- level programme, which is linked to specific treatment protocols and Scheme benefit design structures for oncology. This gives CAMAF access to the ICON treatment protocols that are aimed at enhancing quality of care, including patient-centeredness, clinical outcomes and affordability. Members who are registered on the Cancer Wellness Programme have access to ICON's country wide network of dedicated specialist oncologists, who will manage the members' oncology treatment within their option's benefit set. The ICON three levels are: ESSENTIAL Network Choice, First Choice, Essential Plus & Essential Network This level is aimed at PMB level of funding. CORE Vital Plus, Vital Network, Double Plus & Double Network This level is aimed at scheme options with benefits that allow more than PMB level of care. Treatments included should be evidence based, cost effective and of high quality and includes: • Improved adjuvant regimens • Increased cost-effective treatment options in Improved Survival intent. ENHANCED Alliance Plus & Alliance Network This level has unlimited oncology benefits and includes high cost drugs. Programme Benefits Prevention • Cervical Cancer Vaccine for females aged between 9 and 45 years. This vaccine is paid from a separate immunisation benefit. • Education on precautionary measures for the prevention of cancer as well as early detection of signs and symptoms. • Guidance on dietary, lifestyle and environmental factors to be considered. Joining is as simple as... • Contact the Cancer Wellness Co-ordinator on 011 707 8461 who will explain the process to be followed or send an email to oncology@camaf.co.za • Histology results are a pre-requisite for registration • A treatment plan is required from the oncologist for authorisation. Treatment When you are being treated for a diagnosed cancer, the oncology-trained coordinator offers: • Information on how to deal with the side effects of the medication • What is involved when you are undergoing treatment • Information on the various procedures that you may need to undergo • Liaise with you, the treating doctors and the medical advisors to ensure that you receive the best possible care and support. Changes in treatment need to be communicated. CAMAF covers chemotherapy, radiotherapy, brachytherapy, approved medication and related consultations.
